sourdough starter.

This is a first for me. I found a recipe for 1 cup of flour 1 cup of water mix well and then every
24 hours I dump out half and add 1/2 cup flour and 1/2 cup of water three days now and i dont see any frothy bubbles. I wanted to make garlic sourdough bread and rye sourdough bread. But am thinking i need a better recipe or something. Can anyone hlep
